My Top 5 Scary Game Franchises

It’s that time again; Halloween! The best time for ghouls and ghosts and slutty costumes. Not up to the trick or treating this year? Here are my 5 top scary franchises that will keep your skin crawling during this all hallow’s eve.

5. Clock Tower (specifically Clock Tower 3 on PS1 and PS2)

Running through dark city streets with creepy puppet like figures chasing you.
Turn up the sound for some good old audio freak outs!

4.Resident Evil Series (all systems)

Superhuman zombies and a love story.  What more can I say.  It will take more than love to get any of these characters past the hellish world that was created by the Umbrella Corporation.

3. Left For Dead (XBOX360)

FREAK ZOMBIES… Most scarier than the ones from George Romero’s Night of the Living Dead.  They’re fast and relentless and hungry for you.  This game gets your adrenaline pumping and makes your think quickly.

Nothing freaks me out more than anything based on a true story or even true information.  It makes it too real which makes you wonder; can this happen to me? Fatal Frame takes advantage of the new technology in the 4th installment of the series which requires you to grab stuff with the Wii mote.  Sometimes… something grabs you!

Based on the iconic Steven Spielberg movie franchise, JAWS: Ultimate Predator is a re-envisioning of the world’s most famous and deadliest predator the ocean has ever seen.
Players take the role as JAWS– hunting and killing prey, exploring the depths of the sea and battling fearsome new bosses. Extra Life is a annual 24-hour video game marathon that raises money to help kids at Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. It’s never been this much fun to do this much good. Just click the Register Now! button to get started. You’ll get your own personal page to help your fundraising efforts and track your progress.

This year’s event begins at 8 a.m. on Oct. 15, 2011. Each participant is asked to raise money by recruiting at least four sponsors to give $1 for each hour of the marathon (that’s just $24 per sponsor).

What makes Extra Life so incredibly easy is you can do it from the comfort of your own home. While many churches and schools do lock-ins for Extra Life, you don’t HAVE to go anywhere. What’s more, you can play any game or games you want to during the event. Xbox 360, PS3, PC, even games on your phone count.

If you can’t play the full 24 hours on Oct. 15 nobody is going to kick down your door and stick a controller in your hand. You can make up the time later, or even get ahead by playing some of your 24 hours BEFORE the event.

The important thing is to make the commitment to help local children get better. All the money you raise will stay at the Children’s Miracle Network Hospital near you.
