About Tales from Space: Mutant Blobs Attack

Tales from Space: Mutant Blobs Attack is a side-scrolling puzzle platformer about an ornery mutant blob that, after being held captive in a lab that can only be described as something out of a retro sci-fi movie from the early ’50’s, escapes into the world and sets out to eat its way to freedom. Mutant Blobs Attack contains a wide range of exciting features and gameplay modes designed specifically for the PlayStation®Vita handheld entertainment system.

In celebration of the release of Mutant Blobs Attack, DrinkBox Studios has also revealed that they have created a new premium bundle for the game’s PlayStation®3 system predecessor, Tales from Space: About a Blob: Players can now download a new bundle pack with About a Blob and bunch of DLC for just $9.99, and the standalone game for just $7.99.

TME Comic Review: The Art of The Mass Effect Universe

Review By Sean McQuillan

Mass Effect, like all BioWare games, is an ocean of rich character designs, immersive and interconnected storylines, and beautiful set pieces.  An ocean of such depth you could easily get lost in it.  The Mass Effect series followed Shepard as he, or she, saved the universe.  It not only gave you a world to explore, and loads of interesting races and subcultures to investigate, it acted as a tour of the imaginations of the BioWare team.  You get exposition through gameplay, but there is a huge amount of extra material if you have the interest to pour through it. The Art of The Mass Effect Universe is, as the name implies, a look into the artwork behind one of the most immersive RPGs released.  What makes it truly amazing it now just the stunning final art of the characters and locales, but the insight into their design process.  You see tons of early designs and notes from the creators explaining their approach and how they refined it into the final designs.  We see the races, characters, and worlds spanning both Mass Effect titles. Coming in at almost 200 pages, with a price tag of $39.99, this beautiful hardbound book is well worth it to anyone who loves the series, and would make an excellent window into the BioWare universe for anyone curious about the series.

Remedy Entertainment to collaborate on soundtrack featuring indie-electronica-rockers Kasabian for upcoming action-adventure Alan Wake: American Nightmare

posted by chris sweda

EMI Music Publishing Scandinavia and Remedy Entertainment today announced that Remedy’s upcoming XBLA title Alan Wake’s American Nightmare will feature a duo of EMI songwriters and composers, namely “Club Foot” which is performed by British indie-electronica-rockers Kasabian and “Watching the Sun Come Up” by English singer-songwriter and Mercury-Prize winner Ed Harcourt.
“Having already worked with Remedy on their previous Alan Wake title we were more than happy to continue our relationship with them and I believe that our combined ability to select and supervise moody tracks for Remedy’s upcoming action-adventure will result in a better gameplay experience.” said Andreas Olsson, VP Sales at EMI Music Publishing Scandinavia.
“Music played an important role in the original Alan Wake and we’ve carried that tradition over to American Nightmare with an exceptionally strong selection of original and licensed songs”, said Oskari Häkkinen, Head of Franchise Development at Remedy “and to spice things up a little more, Alan’s old-time buddy and literary agent Barry Wheeler has become the manager of the game’s seminal rock-band Old Gods of Asgard – expect a brand new single to be included with the game!”

Diablo 3 Confirmed for Consoles

By Sean McQuillan

Blizzard has finally confirmed that Diable 3 will see a console release.  It was in a response to a fan who asked community manager Bashiok to confirm or deny the console speculation.  Bashiok said “Yup, Josh Mosqueira is lead designer of the Diablo Console project”.  It’s expected to see the Xbox 360 .  While I’m still primarily a PC gamer, I wholeheartedly welcome companies to embrace cross platform designs.  Having played Diablo 3 at Blizzcon this last year I can say the controls would fit a controller just as well.  No word yet as to how this may affect the Real Money Auction house system.
